Ah, the incredible fabled Bondi Beach!! Absolutely perfect day. Not a cloud in the sky, about 25C with a light breeze.Bondi Beach is actually a section of Sydney, so completely accessible by transit. It took us about half an hour by subway and bus to get there. Definitely well worth it. The sand is like talcum powder and the water was just comfortable. Not bathtub warm, but not chilly either. Just nicely refreshing. And it's no wonder it's so popular with the surfers -- the waves are superb!
After splashing around in the surf for a while, then laying out in the sun to dry, we had lunch at

Then a wander along the shops on Campbell Parade, the street that runs along the beach where we found a Movenpick ice cream shop (who knew?), so decided ice cream was in order. I decided to go for the rhubarb and Colin had a scoop of rhubarb with a scoop of chocolate. We were both quite satsified.
Tonight, in an attempt to adjust our internal clocks to get ready for the big Mardi Gras party on Saturday (which starts at 10pm and goes until 8am Sunday morning -- no, we will not be staying to the end!), we decided to have dinner a bit later this evening then check out some of the bars along Oxford Street and see if we can't make it past 10pm for once! I'll keep you posted!
Tomorrow is a day trip bus tour out to the Blue Mountains. Should be fun!
Hi there: just getting caught up on your blog. Sounds like you're having a great time. With all the writing and posting, I'm surprised you have time for sight seeing! lol! Just kidding, Enjoy!!! Michael's been having a great time as well, and I think will be passing through the Panama Canal today or tomorrow. He's been sending interesting tales. Take care, luv to ya both.
