G'day! We're here finally. All settled in and ready to go. We landed at 7:50am on Monday, March 2, which would be 10:50pm your time. Weather here is fabulous! A bit humid, but that's just fine with me!

We couldn't check into our hotel until 2pm and since we breezed through customs and caught the subway downtown from the airport, we were at the hotel by 10am. So, 4 hours to kill in our grungy travelling clothes.

We wandered around the main part of the harbour and took a couple of pictures of the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House and then found a nice pub with an outside patio where we killed a couple of hours having a couple of bevvies and watching the passing scenery. Had a great steak & fries dinner there at the pub for only $7 AUD/ $6 CDN. Couldn't buy a raw steak for that price!

So, now we've had a good night's sleep and we're all showered, shaved and presentable. It's not quite 8am as I'm writing this and today we will head out on one of the walking tours described in the Fodor's Guide leant to us by Fred & Michael. (Excellent book, by the way, so thanks Michael & Fredi for that!).

If you refer to the Sydney map on my last post, scroll up and to the left (north and west) and you'll see an area marked "The Rocks". That's where we'll be heading today, so there'll be more pix for you to see on our next post. In the meantime, here's a few pictures from yesterday while we were wandering about waiting for our hotel.
